Quick Answer

When creating a new package on DropDesk, hosts can choose between three flexible charge types: Hourly (best for meetings and appointments), One-Time (best for day passes and drop-in events), and Subscriptions (best for recurring plans). Once your package is live, you can easily pause it using the "Unpublish" toggle, or permanently remove it using the "Delete" tool. All package management must be done via the DropDesk Web App.

Choosing Your Pricing Model

The core of your DropDesk offering is how you charge for it. Whether you are listing a physical venue, a professional service, or a group activity, the platform allows you to structure your pricing to match exactly how guests use your offerings.

When you create a new package (Space, Service, or Activity), you will be prompted to select one of three Charge Types. Here is how they work:

1. Hourly Packages

Hourly packages allow users to book time blocks. You set the hourly rate and can enforce a minimum booking duration (e.g., a 2-hour minimum). Bookings are managed by DropDesk's internal calendaring system.

  • Space Example: A 10-person conference room booked at $50/hour.
  • Service Example: A 1-on-1 personal training session booked at $100/hour.
  • Activity Example: A pickleball court rental booked at $60/hour.

2. One-Time Packages

One-time packages are flat-fee purchases. These are perfect for single-use access, day passes, week passes, or specific experiences that are not tied to a day/time.

  • Space Example: A Coworking Day Pass ($30 flat fee for the day).
  • Service Example: A 90-minute specialized deep tissue massage ($120 flat fee without needing to calculate an hourly rate).
  • Activity Example: A ticket to a Friday night Rooftop Yoga Workshop ($25 flat fee per person).

3. Recurring Subscriptions

Subscriptions allow you to generate consistent, reliable revenue. Users are billed automatically on a recurring schedule. You can choose to prorate the billing so everyone renews on the same day of the month, or bill based on the exact date they signed up.

  • Space Example: A Monthly Dedicated Desk membership ($300/month).
  • Service Example: A Monthly Business Coaching retainer for 4 sessions ($500/month).
  • Activity Example: Unlimited monthly access to group fitness classes ($150/month).

Step-by-Step: How to Create Your Package

Note: Package creation must be done through the DropDesk Web App.

Step 1: Start the Build

Navigate to the Packages tab at the top of your screen and click Add Package.

Click Add Package to create a new listing, or click Edit to update an existing one.

Step 2: Name and Describe It

Choose a clear, attention-grabbing title (e.g., "10-Person Boardroom"). Your description should clearly outline what the guest is getting, what is included, and who it is for. Keep it simple and focused on the value.

Fill in your package details including name, description, photos, and keywords.

Step 3: Select the Charge Type & Price

Choose your model (Hourly, One-Time, or Subscription). Enter your price, and configure your specific rules (like minimum hour requirements for hourly, or prorated billing for subscriptions). Don't forget to apply your local tax rates!

Step 4: Choose Your Booking Settings

Decide how you want to receive the reservation:

  • Instant Book (Recommended): Users can book and confirm immediately.
  • Host Approval: You must manually approve or deny each request via SMS text.

Step 5: Save and Publish

Click Save Package. Your offering is now live on your venue profile and ready to be booked!

Managing Your Inventory: Unpublish vs. Delete

Keeping your inventory up to date ensures users always see your most relevant, up-to-date offerings. If you need to remove a package, you have two options inside the Packages tab:

How to Temporarily Unpublish a Package

Sometimes you need to pause a package to adjust pricing or restrict access without losing all your settings.

  1. Open the package you want to hide.
  2. Scroll down to the Publish Package toggle.
  3. Switch the toggle OFF and click Save.
Edit Package popup showing the Publish Package toggle switch at the bottom

Toggle the Publish Package switch OFF to temporarily hide your package from customers.

The package will instantly disappear from your public profile. When you are ready to offer it again, simply flip the toggle back ON.

How to Permanently Delete a Package

If you are retiring an old offer and will never use it again, you can permanently delete it to clean up your Host dashboard.

  1. Locate the package in your list.
  2. Click the Trash Can icon next to it.
  3. Click Delete on the confirmation pop-up.

Warning: Once a package is deleted, it is permanently removed from your inventory and cannot be restored. If you are unsure, Unpublish it instead!
