Stop Burning Cash During the Day: Convert Your Restaurant into a Coworking Space

Restaurant margins are notoriously thin—often hovering between 3% and 6%. Yet, for many dinner-focused venues or spacious cafes, the biggest asset (the real estate) sits empty or underutilized for 40+ hours a week. Turning your restaurant into a coworking space isn't about pivoting away from food; it's about dayparting—using your quiet hours to generate a new, high-margin revenue stream.

Quick Answer

Ready to take your DropDesk listings to the next level? Beyond basic pricing, DropDesk offers advanced package settings to help you fine-tune your operations. You can manage how many bookings you want to accept each day (and when the package republishes) using Quantity & Republish Intervals, choose minimum booking intervals for hourly packages, and customize how packages can be booked.

Quantity & Republish Intervals

If you are renting out a single space or service, your inventory is easy to manage: only a few users will book at a time. But what if you manage many types of spaces, services, or activities? That is where Quantity and Republish Intervals come in. These settings allow you to control how often and how many times users can book.

1. Package Quantity (Booking Limit Per Day)

The Quantity setting tells the DropDesk system how many times a specific package can be purchased each day.

Example: If your open-concept workspace has 10 available hot desks, you create one "Hot Desk Day Package" and set the Quantity to 10. The system will automatically stop accepting bookings for that day once the 10th pass is sold.

2. Republish Interval (Inventory Reset)

The Republish Interval dictates when your available quantity resets so guests can book again.

  • 12-Hour Interval: Your inventory resets twice a day. This is great for spaces that offer distinct morning and evening availability (like a fitness studio with AM and PM class capacities).
  • 24-Hour Interval: Your inventory resets once a day. This is perfect for standard daily bookings, like hot desks or coworking day passes, where a guest buys access for Tuesday, and a different guest can buy that same spot on Wednesday.
  • Custom Interval: Allows you to define a specific reset timeframe that matches your exact operational needs and booking schedules.

Reservation Options (For One-Time Packages)

When creating a One-Time package, you have the ability to change how the guest interacts with your calendar at checkout. Not every purchase requires a specific date and time.

In your package settings, you can choose from three different reservation requirements:

Reservation TypeHow the Guest BooksBest Used For
Day ReservationGuest must select a specific calendar day to validate the purchase.Coworking Day Passes, 1-Day Workshops, Guest Passes.
Week ReservationGuest selects a specific block of a week on the calendar.Weekly access passes, 5-day fitness boot camps, weekly equipment rentals.
Reservation Without a DateGuest purchases the package immediately without selecting a calendar date.Punch cards (e.g., a 10-class pack), onboarding fees, open-ended consultations, or digital goods.

Why this matters: Forcing a guest to pick a date for an open-ended service adds friction to the checkout process. By using "Reservation Without a Date," you can sell flexible services effortlessly and allow the guest to redeem them when they arrive.

Other In-Depth Package Controls

DropDesk also offers several backend tools to protect your space and optimize your revenue.

Security Deposits

If you are renting out high-value equipment, luxury venues, or specialized production studios, you can require a Security Deposit directly within the package builder.

How it works: When a guest checks out, this deposit is authorized alongside their booking fee. This ensures you have financial protection against damages or rule violations, giving you peace of mind when hosting higher-risk activities.

Minimum Booking Durations (For Hourly Packages)

You do not have to let guests book your space for 15 minutes if it is not worth the setup time. When creating an Hourly package, you can define a strict minimum duration.

Best Practice: For meeting rooms, a 1-2 hour minimum is reasonable for standard bookings. For large private events, photo shoots, or specialized venue rentals, setting a 3-hour or 4-hour minimum ensures the booking is worth your operational effort.

Prorated Billing (For Subscriptions)

If you offer monthly plans, managing different renewal dates for 100 different users can be an accounting nightmare. Under the Subscription charge type, you can toggle on Prorated Billing.

How it works: You pick a universal billing date (e.g., the 1st of the month). If a user signs up on the 15th, DropDesk will automatically calculate the partial cost for their first two weeks, and then sync them up to be billed full price on the 1st of the next month alongside all your other members.
